The biggest festival of the year, Deepavali is here, falling on the 24th of October 2022. Deepavali is the most exciting festival celebrated super enthusiastically worldwide by billions. Although Deepavali is all about wearing new clothes, bursting crackers and having fun, certain key traditions are followed differently in different parts of India. In the eastern part of India like West Bengal & Odisha, people celebrate Deepavali in the name of RAMAR PATTABISHEKAM commemorating Lord Rama’s return to his kingdom of Ayodhya after a 14-year Vanvas (exile) after defeating the demonic King Ravana. Deepavali celebrations in the Northern parts last 4-5 days on a grand scale namely Dhanteras, Bhadi Deepavali, Choti Deepavali, Govardhan puja and Bhai dooj. In Southern parts like Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh, people traditionally celebrate Deepavali in the name of Naraka-Chaturdasi commemorating the day Lord Vishnu defeated the demon king Narakasura.
